Track: Pediatric and Neonatal Pharmacology
Pharmacology consists of two fields of interest, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics. Pediatric Pharmacology ensures safe and effective drug use and optimal medication therapy outcomes in children up to 18 years of age. For
pediatrics patients, it means drugs are administered in smaller, but
more frequent doses. Dosing errors are the most common
medication error. It is crucial for healthcare providers to ensure that the
appropriate drug and dose are prescribed to children, especially neonates,
because of their differences in response to drugs compared with adults.
